Our Team

Anushay Chaudhry

 Founder and Executive Director

A first year Biology and Political Science major at the University of Pittsburgh,  Anushay is the Regional Director for Storybox Books, a nonprofit organization that aims to increase literacy rates and promote academic achievement. Additionally, she is a writer for Women’s Republic and the Rag, two distinct intersectional feminist blogs created to generate conversation around women’s issues. Anushay’s initiatives to improve the quality of healthcare in developing countries led her to become a symposium presenter at the 2017 Global Health and Leadership Conference at Harvard College. She strongly believes that the reproductive rights of women have been the subject of increasingly stubborn and relentless controversy and if this world wants their future daughters to receive the care that they need, they need to instill a sense of security and assurance within the healthcare system on local, national, and global scales. That starts with empowering young girls. Anushay started TreasurHER because she believes that women’s reproductive healthcare is a right, not a privilege.

Nabeeha Affan

 Director of Communications

My name is Nabeeha Affan and I am the new Director of Communications for TreasurHER. I am currently a first year student at the University of Pittsburgh. I plan on following the premed track with a Neuroscience major as well as a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. In high school, I was an active member of my schools Key Club and volunteered for numerous events, my favorite of which was after school math tutoring of middle school children. In addition, I was also an after school elementary school ESL tutor during my senior year of high school. I hope to help TreasurHER with their mission of ending the stigma towards menstruation and women’s health. I strongly believe that in this political climate it is necessary that women especially come together and realize we are powerful enough to defeat all of the adversity and discrimination which we face. I was attracted to TreasurHER because of its mission, but also because of the fact that it is run by young people. We are the future and it is our responsibility to create a world in which we are proud to live.

A sophomore at the Miami Valley School in Dayton, OH. Liberty is a regional director and the Hispanic Outreach Director for Storybook books, non-profit organization. She is co-editor of her high school’s news paper, as well as an active member of diversity club and the Miami Valley School’s diversity council. Liberty also plays the alto saxophone in her school’s jazz band, is an active member of yearbook club, and rows crew competitively. For three consecutive years, Liberty has volunteered weekly at an after school program for Latino youth in Dayton where she tutors the kids in math and in English. She has decided to join the TreasurHER team because she believes that there should be more young women who are actively advocating and making a difference to empower and help other women in all ways possible. Liberty considers this to be key for the sisterhood to survive and thrive in the modern atmosphere and agrees strongly that TreasurHER’s mission will create a platform to discuss and address the most prevalent human rights issues regarding health care that women face everyday.
